Commenwealth Essay (question 5)

Have you ever lived for one whole day relying on only one of your five senses? I doubt so. Me myself also had never had that experience. But, I have actually some thoughts of it. I thought that if on a day when I only have the sense of sight, life will be difficult.

Firstly, I will not be able to communicate with my friends and I will not be able to hear what they say. If they say something very important, I will not be able to know it and trouble will arrive. Followed by that, I will get scolded by everyone involved in the matter. Next, without my sense of hearing, if I was walking on the pedestrian crossing and a car suddenly move and push the horn, I cannot here it and will get knocked down. I might die or suffer serious injury if that happens. Without the sense of hearing, I will also not be able to listen in class and if the teacher is saying some exam tips, I will have no idea about what he or she is saying and I might fail my exam.

Another problem is that I will not have a sense of taste. Everyone thing I eat will be tasteless, even though this component is that really important in my life. Without my sense of smell, I will not be able to smell the fresh air the pleasant smell of flowers though I can escape smelling stinky things which is one of the good points of not having the sense of smell.

Finally, my sense of touch will be gone. This is a very important part of our body. Without this, even when an object is hot, I will not know and touch it directly and burning my hand. Also, when something is sharp, I cannot feel it and if I touch it by accident, my hand will bleed, though I will feel nothing. The good point about this is, I can have the feeling of flying and suspending in the air as I cannot feel that I am stepping on the ground. It is going to be very fun and i can taste the feeling of flying in the air.

There might be a lot of good and bad things about only having the sense of sight. But having the sense of sight is extremely important as the rest of the sense. Every part of our body and its function is important as it can help us do certain job the other parts cannot do. This is why nothing in this world is perfect. Everything has its good and bad points. All you have to do is to live with it and carry on with your life.

Hence, it is never good to only have one sense as you are restricted from a lot of activity and life will be boring. So, if you are thinking of what will happen if you only have one sense instead of five, I advice you to stop thinking about it and treasure what you have now.

CA1 posting(a difficulty you faced)

Today, i learnt the lesson of not listening in class and handing in my homework late. During DNT lesson, when the class went to the DNT room, the teacher told us to hand in the three assignments. Sadly, I did not do 2 of them as i did not listen in class and did not do them.

After school, I rushed all the way home and type out the assignments and printed it out. I even have to eat while typing. It was tough and I was afraid I could not hand in my homework in time and get marks deducted. After completing all the homework, I rushed out of my home and ran to the bus-stop. When i reached the bus-stop, I was extremely tired. I waited for the bus for around 5 minutes but at that time, it seems like an hour. Finally, the bus came and I board it.

10 minutes later, the bus reached my school. I went down and walked to the pedestrain crossing. I waited slowly for the green man to appear and did not rush as I do not want an accident to happen. I walked past the road and reached the staff room. I found the box we are suposed to put our work in and I slowly placed in worksheet in it. YES! I completed my homework. What and experience.

Still, i hope nothing like this happen again so I do not need to rush to school for a second time.

CA1 posting( a difficulty you faced)

Last Thursday, during table-tennis trianing, I received a good news. That is I have a chance to be the captai of the C Division table-tennis team. The teacher asked me during training if i am willing to be the captain of the C divisin team. After some cosideration, I decided to take the job up. She told me my first task is to calculate ow many tabls we have that can still be used and some that are in bad codition. It was easy ad i completed the task in a minute's time. When I went home, I suddenly thought aboutsomething very important.

Firstly, I do not have a handphone, which makes it hard forme to contact others o tell them when training is. Secondly, I have never taken such high responsibility before. I have been thinking about this problem for a long time. It is a difficult situation because if I insist on taking up this role, I might not do it very well. If I tell the teacher I do not want to be the captain, she might think I am lying to her at first.

A difficult situation I am facing. So, I thought of some way to actually settle this problem. I can actually get a cheap handphone so that I can contact the rest easily. Next, I can also ask my senior what I am suppose to do and learn from him. With these solutions, hopefuly, I can still take up this role and so a good job.

CCA trail

Last friday after school, there was a CCA trail for table-tennis. I was there because I am in the table-tennis team. At 1.30pm, everyone from the table-tennis team reached the hall. I went there slightly later as I went to eat. By the time I reached the hall, some of the secondary one students where already playing on their own. Some of the played quite well while others were not that good.

Finally, at 2pm, the trail started. I sat on the stage and saw a lot of secondary one students failed to get in just walked off in dismay while others got in and were delighted. One of them, is my friend from Ngee Ann Primary. He emerged the best of all and was the first to got his name confirmed. The coach even told him he have a chance to get into the school team this year. At around 3pm, my one of my senior came to me and told me to take over him to choose which secodary one students can get in the team as he have something on. Of course, without much hesitation, I took over him. I counted the score for 2 matches where 2 secondary one students have to play with each other. 3 of them do not really know how to play and in the end, they did not get selected. Only 1 of the four got in. He played quite well but probably not good enough to get into school team this year.

Hopefully, some of the secondary one students can get in so as to make the team stronger and be prepared for the competition. I wish they can get in so I can have more friends and competitor in table-tennis.

ca1( something that took place in school)

Today, my physics teacher Mr Koh told our class to go to the science lab to do an experiment. When we reached the science lab, we settled down quickly and sat in front of the teacher's desk to wait for the next instruction. Mr Koh took half an hour to explain what we have to do. After this, he told us to do the experiment on our own.

In this experiment, we are suppose to test the light refracted by the transparent box and find its angle of reflection. I was excited not only because I like experiment but also I can do it on my own. I quickly sat down and started to do the experiment. It was quite tough to do at the start but soon,I got a hand to the experiment and did it fast. After I finished it, I told the physics teacher to see if it was acceptable. He said that I did not label part of the experiment. With little time left, I was in danger of not finishig it in time. Luckily,I rushed though everything just in time and even got a extra of one mark in the next test given by my physics teacer. Overall, I felt that this is a good experiene for me and I really enjoyed such moment, even thouh I almost failed to complete it.

Hopefully, I can have more of such kind of experiment that I can do on my own so that during the O-level science practical experiment, I will not be worried if I cannot finish the work.

First day of term 1 week 3

After two weeks of resting and settling down in school, the busy week is coming right now. Today, the school is loaded with anouncements by the pricipal, vice-pricipal, Mr Chia, the prefects and the HOD of PE who briefed us about some CCA things, or what he calls the CCP.

Followed by this one and a half hour of long speeches, we finally can get back to our class. Our assistant form teacher came in soon after we settled down and gave our our report slip for us to set our targets. I was totally shocked when i got that paper. The school actually expected me to get a total MSG of 1.6. but still, i set some of my targets slightly lower while I aim for an A1 in Higher Chinese.

Next, we had PE theory. My class went down to the professional room in a total mess but still, we got sitted very quickly when we reached the room. 2H joined us in this lesson and we learnt about aerobic and anaerobic. After a short lesson, we finally have a recess. After a break, we went back to class. The maths teacher came soon after and told us to go to the IT lab. we got in quickly in an orderly manner and got to our respective places. She told us what we are suppose to do and we started on it. I finished everything 15 minutes before lesson end and used the extra time to do some other maths work.

Followed by maths lesson, we have a boring literature lesson. We learnt about a poem that says that it is never going to be sweet to die for your country in a war. Then, we got into groups of
4-5 and started to plan a play about the poem. My group joked around during the time for us to plan but still, we completed it in time. After this, we went to the auditorium and listen to a talk about the Online Project Work(OPW) we are supposed to do this year.

Finally, at 2.15pm sharp, the bell rang and its time to go home. But, i did not go home as i went to my friend's house to play. We played 'Wii' there and i also helped Roy to do part of his DNT project work. At 6pm, my father brought me home and i ate dinner at home. I did the rest of my homework until 8.30pm, which is the time i started writing my first CA1 graded post, which is this post.

Now, since i completed it, i am going to sleep and prepare for another long and tiring day in school.

i am so sorry

i have to say sorry to my physics teacher Mr. Koh. He told me to wait for him after school to give him the money collected to buy the science workbook but i totally forgot about it and went home. Oh my. i will probably get scolded the next day. Luckily, he did not blame me and said it is alright the next day when i apologised to him. Eventually, I gave him the money and I did not get any scolding. Hopefully, I will not make this same horrible mistake next time as I am really afraid I would have to write a 100 words essay of why i did not give him the money.

My first experience in creating a blog

I felt it was easy to actually start a blog. The layout and formatting are pretty easy to complete but making the chatbox took me some time though i still did it with the help of my friend, song yu. I also decided to change the template of my blog but did not know how to do it. So, i asked colin and with his help, i manged to do it successfully. Actully, I had problems a the start. My computer was out of order and i have to use my friends computer to do it. Overall, it is quite easyto create a blog.
