Commenwealth Essay (question 5)
Have you ever lived for one whole day relying on only one of your five senses? I doubt so. Me myself also had never had that experience. But, I have actually some thoughts of it. I thought that if on a day when I only have the sense of sight, life will be difficult.
Firstly, I will not be able to communicate with my friends and I will not be able to hear what they say. If they say something very important, I will not be able to know it and trouble will arrive. Followed by that, I will get scolded by everyone involved in the matter. Next, without my sense of hearing, if I was walking on the pedestrian crossing and a car suddenly move and push the horn, I cannot here it and will get knocked down. I might die or suffer serious injury if that happens. Without the sense of hearing, I will also not be able to listen in class and if the teacher is saying some exam tips, I will have no idea about what he or she is saying and I might fail my exam.
Another problem is that I will not have a sense of taste. Everyone thing I eat will be tasteless, even though this component is that really important in my life. Without my sense of smell, I will not be able to smell the fresh air the pleasant smell of flowers though I can escape smelling stinky things which is one of the good points of not having the sense of smell.
Finally, my sense of touch will be gone. This is a very important part of our body. Without this, even when an object is hot, I will not know and touch it directly and burning my hand. Also, when something is sharp, I cannot feel it and if I touch it by accident, my hand will bleed, though I will feel nothing. The good point about this is, I can have the feeling of flying and suspending in the air as I cannot feel that I am stepping on the ground. It is going to be very fun and i can taste the feeling of flying in the air.
There might be a lot of good and bad things about only having the sense of sight. But having the sense of sight is extremely important as the rest of the sense. Every part of our body and its function is important as it can help us do certain job the other parts cannot do. This is why nothing in this world is perfect. Everything has its good and bad points. All you have to do is to live with it and carry on with your life.
Hence, it is never good to only have one sense as you are restricted from a lot of activity and life will be boring. So, if you are thinking of what will happen if you only have one sense instead of five, I advice you to stop thinking about it and treasure what you have now.
